Camp NaNoWriMo

For those who have taken part in NaNoWriMo, you know how stressful it can be. It doesn’t have to be stressful, but something about the writer’s brain likes to overcomplicate matters. If you’re already writing 1,667 words a day then no doubt you’ll kick off NaNo with the intention of writing a 100k or 150k novel instead of the standard challenge length of 50k…yeah, we do like to torture ourselves sometimes.

If it’s easy it ain’t worth having!
For those who haven’t taken part in NaNoWriMo, the idea is to write 50,000 words in the month of November…that’s right, 50k in 30 days. That’s 1,667 words a day – minimum.
So with complications, stupid deadlines and torture in mind…I bring you bad/good news!
The good folks at NaNoWriMo have introduced Camp NaNoWriMo!
A “light and zesty summer version of November’s literary adventure”… shit/woo, another bastard/inspiring challenge!

This could actually be a very useful addition, those of you who have done the challenge before know how addictive it can be. It’s like getting a tattoo, it might hurt like hell but you’re already dying for the next time as soon as it’s over!
Details of the actual challenge are still blurry but it looks like it should launch this year. When I hear more, I’ll let you know.

  1. Yikes – it's bad enough once a year, but Summer, too? http://bit.ly/mbl2jaThis could end up in divorce proceedings – it was touch and go on the 'plenty-of-food-in-the-fridge-&-clean-underwear' stakes last time…..!

  2. You know what, I may give this a go this time. I may just be the "push" I need to get a first draft finished. Although which Idea I choose is another quandry! My head is so full of shit at the minute. I'll be OK, I will, I will!!!!!!
